Bull Park Trail
Pike Mountains
September, 2011
Bull Park Trail is high up in the mountains above Colorado Springs. The trip to the trailhead takes you across several miles of washboard roads, so air down and adjust your shocks if you can as soon as you hit the dirt. During our trip the Aspens were just starting to turn into their fall colors. Contrasted with the evergreens, the scenery was really beautiful.
Traveling to and from the trail from Colorado Springs takes you on Old Stage Road and Gold Camp Road. These were old mining roads used to get gold out of the mountains. Gold Camp Road runs along the old train bed and you can see the areas they blasted through rock and built up the valleys in order to keep the train on a fairly level path.
